The Boxer's Attack on Beijing

Before the attack on Beijing occurred Empress Dowager Cixi came to power, and with her rise to power she switched her views from dislike of the Boxer's to an encouragement of their goals. With this the stand towards the boxers, of the Qing dynasty, turned to agreement.

As the Boxer's became more violent, and with this, they As the Qing Dynasty turned to agreement theturned to attack the foreign forces in Beijing. The Eight Nation Alliance all pooled into the Beijing Legation Center, which linked all the Embassies.














As the Boxer forces realized that they would not be able to get into the legations quarter they began to burn buildings around it, trying to use it as a scare tactic. This although turned into disasterous results. One of the buildings they burned, which was near one of the oldest libraries in the world, had a gust of wind blow over it, leading to the sparking of the library. Very little was saved.
